The Ironman Competition in Atlantic City

September 15, 2019

The Ironman Competition is coming back to Atlantic City this year and is expected to draw 10,000 people to the area with an estimated $6.6 million in local business revenues.  "This is a big deal for Atlantic City" said Steve Del Monte of Wildwod, NJ the Ironman Race director. "There are only 35 (Ironman Races) in North America, and Atlantic City is one of them."

There will be about 2500 participants

The 70.3 refers to the total distance in miles covered in the race consisting of:

1.2 mile swim

(starting in the back bays of Atlantic City)

56 mile bike ride

(from Atlantic City throughout Atlantic County ending at Renault Winery Vineyards)

13.1 mile run

(from Renault Winery back to Atlantic City)

The finish line will be in front of Boardwalk Hall on the AC Boardwalk

Each distance of the swim, bike and run segment is half the distance of that segment in an Ironman Triathlon
